Brief Description
Managing Action Items on Multiple Projects
In any project, Action Items are the result of discussions on one or more topics in meetings where some sort of action is required. These items can often result in a quick response but they can also become ongoing items that involve multiple responses and can be triggered by other action items. Action items can also expose risks and issues throughout the life cycle of the project and they can spin off onto entirely new business projects.
Since Project Managers generally manage multiple projects, they must consequently learn how to manage Action Items across multiple projects. Without a clear and defined approach to managing Action Items, deliverable target dates are often missed and stakeholders start to get restless.
The purpose of this presentation is to discuss existing methods of managing Action Items and then discuss how to keep them on track. This presentation will also discuss an automated solution as an alternative.
Bio
Ed Clerkin is a Senior Software Engineer and PMP with the County of San Luis Obispo, Department of Social Services. Ed pioneered many of the first software solutions for the District Attorney and Superior Court. Ed also served as a County consultant for a large State/County Automation Project and returned to SLO in June, 2008.
